I enjoy being an air cadet because you have such a wide spread of activities to do such as shooting and flying. I have been an air cadet for 1yr and 9 months and I still very much enjoy it. I can remember my 1st night down and to be honest it wasn’t the most interesting night. I was very shy as I did not know anyone there. I think it was CWO Young who was the 1st person who came and spoke to me on that night and he was and still is VERY loud. I remember him trying to force feed me but failed. Ha! Everyone at cadets is really nice and friendly and I have made so many friends from going. I can also remember my 1st time shooting which didn’t go exactly to plan I kind of missed the target completely! But I like to think of it as recycling you know saving the rainforest! Although after a bit of practice I am doing quite well and shooting now and I am trying for my marksmen.
In that year and 9 months I have achieved: a provisional radio operators award, my bronze Duke of Edinburgh, best new recruit and just recently awarded the best drill cadet award:D (woo go me!)
Before I joined air cadets I didn’t know what I wanted to do when I left school but now I have decided that I want to be a weapon technician in the RAF because I enjoy shooting!
