Q: When do you meet?

A: The squadron parade nights are Tuesday and Friday between 7.15pm and 9.30pm.

Q: How old do I have to be to join?

A: We can accept cadets from the day of their 13th birthday but if you are a little younger and want to come and see if you would like to join please give us a call to arrange a visit. The upper age limit to join the Air Cadet Organisation is 17 years and 9 months although it is possible to remain an Air Cadet until you reach your 20th birthday if you join before the upper limit.

Q: Do I have to bring my parents on my first night?

A: It isn't absolutely necessary to bring your parents along but many cadets prefer to do this. It also helps your parents to know what you will be doing and will give them the opportunity to meet our staff.

Q: When will I get my uniform?

A: Once you have attended regularly for 8 parades you will be issued with your uniform. This doesn't mean that you have to come every night for 4 weeks, just that you must have made a regular commitment to us!

Q: Do I have to pay anything to be an Air Cadet?

A: Once you have your uniform you need to pay £5 per month in subs which covers most of what you will do as a cadet and ATC Insurance for while you are on duty with us. There may be other activities, such as camps, which have an additional charge. These financial costs must never be a barrier to anyone joining our unit.

Q: Do I have to be fit to join the ATC?

A: No! You don't have to be super fit to be an Air Cadet! There are opportunites to take part in sports and adventure training activites and we do encourage everyone to have a go but if you don't feel you are capable of an activity, nobody is going to force you to take part. You can do as much or as little as you like, of course you'll get most out of your experiences if you give it a go!
